First Eucharist is celebrated in the Spring, during Easter, for those children in the second grade who completed the necessary religious education and have made first reconciliation. St. Peter Chanel Catholic School and the parish’s Elementary Religious Education program celebrate this sacrament together.

Communion for the Sick and Homebound Communion is brought to the homebound by a Eucharistic Minister once a week. Families are asked to contact their parish office to make arrangements for communion to the homebound. Please contact your parish office in regards to those who are seriously ill or hospitalized.

Adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament at the Adoration Chapel in the Lutcher Chapel is possible seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day. If you feel called by God to become a committed adorer and are willing to commit to one hour a week, please call Bobby Lear at 869-5202.

Parents wishing to have their child baptized must be registered parishioners and complete baptismal preparation prior to the date of baptism. Baptisms are celebrated during Mass the 1st Sunday of every month at St. Michael, 2nd Sunday of every month at St. Joseph, and the 3rd Sunday of every month at Sacred Heart. Please contact the pastoral center or Sr. Judith Couturie, C.S.J.(869-5751) during the early days of pregnancy for details on baptism preparation.

In the Diocese of Baton Rouge, the sacrament of Confirmation is ordinarily celebrated in the 11th grade. Catholic school students celebrate the sacrament in their parish. A preparation program is required prior to the reception of the sacrament and is incorporated into the parish high school of religion program. For more information for high school students contact Missy Laurent. Adults seeking confirmation are to contact Mrs. Gayle Laiche.

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults

The RCIA is exciting parish ministry for the inquiry, formation, and initiation of those expressing a desire to join the Catholic Church. A team of catechists work together to share their faith with those involved in the catechumenate. If you are thinking about becoming a Catholic, contact one of the parish offices or Sr. Judith Couturie, C.S.J.

The sacrament of Reconciliation is available on Saturdays: 11:00 - 11:50am (1st & 2nd Saturday St. Joseph, 3rd & 4th Saturday Sacred Heart); 3:00 - 3:50pm(Sacred Heart); 3:30-4:15pm (St. Michael); 6:00 - 6:50pm(St. Joseph) and 30 minutes before each of our weekday Masses. It is also available by contacting one of our priests through the parish office. During Advent and Lent, communal penance services are celebrated followed by individual reception of the Sacrament.

First Reconciliation is celebrated for our young people who are in second grade and have completed the necessary religious education.

This sacrament is communally available at our Wednesday evening Eucharist held at 5:15pm at the Lutcher Chapel. Contact one of the parish offices to arrange for the reception of this sacrament. It is also available at any time by contacting one of our priests through the parish office. Anyone anticipating surgery is encouraged to celebrate this sacrament before the surgery is scheduled.

Couples planning to be married are asked to contact their parish office at least six months prior to their planned wedding date to begin preparation. No tentative wedding date can be confirmed before the initial meeting with the priest.

If you believe God may be calling you to His service in Priesthood or religious life, feel free to contact one of our priests who would be happy to help you discern this. You may also contact our Diocesan Vocation Director who can help you discern and also begin the process of application for priestly studies and formation. The Vocation Director can be reached through the Diocesan offices at 318.445.2401.
